The MS District Teen Bible Quiz Preseason Tournament was a record-breaking success! The tournament featured 51 quizzers (a record for attendance), record high 20 rookies, 10 teams from 7 churches (most in 5 years), the youngest quizzer to make the Top 10 (Danae Phillips at 8 years-old), and the oldest quizzer to make the Top 10 (shall remain nameless and ageless)! For those of you wondering, we let anyone quiz in the preseason tournament. Yes, I know that 8 years-old is too young to be a teenager.

The tournament covered Luke 1-3. Some of the changes for the 2008-09 season were revealed and received overwhelmingly positive results:

1. 3-Team Quizzing: Each game featured 3 teams competing against each other. This resulted in a faster, more competitive game with fewer unanswered questions and many more pre-jumps (jumping before the question was finished).

2. All-Day Round-Robin: A single schedule was used for the morning and afternoon games. The entire day's games were used for Team W/L and Individual Scores

3. QuizzerPins: Replacing last year's QPoints game, this year we will award quizzers with specialty pins as certain achievements are accomplished while quizzing. Each quizzer will receive a neck ribbon to attach and display their pins.

4. Catered Lunch: Well, this didn't go as expected. Apparently, teens eat a lot. So we had a delay getting more pizza to feed the entire group. That's why we have preseason! We'll be ready for September.
